"A collection of detective stories from the 1940's."
The first one in the series is named,
"The Case of the Nazi Saboteurs"
Excerpt from The Case of the Nazi Saboteurs : As Paige pawed through the bottom of her toolbox pulling out broken rivets and other bits of junk, she heard the tortured screech of tearing steel and snapping cables; sounds one never ever wants to hear in a place where cranes lift heavy things. This unnerving sound was followed by a horrible scream of pure agony. Paige jumped up and ran toward the scream that had now fallen silent. Ahead of her lay the wreckage of one of the cranes that lift and move heavy wing sections to the next assembly station. She saw two men running for the exit. They jumped in a car and sped away as emergency horns blared and people started running in every direction at once. She focused on the two men, memorizing every feature of their appearance and the make of car they jumped into. She then ran to the collapsed crane. One of the men working on the wing section lay under the tangle of crane structure and battered airplane wing. He was clearly dead, crushed by the enormous mass of steel, aluminum and cables that now entombed him. Everyone dug into the mass of debris that held the man in place.People grabbed and moved anything that could be moved but the closer they got, the more clear it was that all efforts would be for naught. The medical team arrived and after a quick look confirmed what was all too clear. The entire section of the plant fell to absolute silence but for the sobs and cries of despair of the employees who knew exactly what had happened. This was no industrial accident. This was not a failure of the crane as it lifted the huge wing section. This was sabotage clear and simple.
